Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to resolving boundary disputes facing the state through peaceful means.

Speaking at the Ibo Uzo Festival in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area, Governor Otti, represented by his Deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, emphasized the strategic location of Abia, which shares borders with seven states, four in the South-East and three in the South-South.

Governor Otti assured that all boundary issues would be addressed at the upcoming National Boundary Commission meeting, scheduled for August 12th and 13th.

He expressed confidence that the meeting would facilitate the delineation of Abia’s boundaries with neighboring states, including the Ugwueke-Akaeze boundary with Ebonyi State.

Speaking on the Ibo Uzo Festival, Otti praised the event as a significant cultural heritage of the Isieke people, which has the potential to boost the local economy, drive development, and attract both local and international tourists.

Governor Otti also commended Johnson Chukwu for constructing a civic center for the Isieke community, highlighting that the facility would enhance human capital development and foster community collaboration.

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, also addressed the gathering, urging leaders to view their roles as a divine call to serve.
