  • Six suspects linked to the destruction and looting of the Kano State Printing Press were arrested

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 76 individuals for allegedly flying Russian flags during the recent #EndBadGovernance protest. The arrests were part of a broader crackdown in which 600 suspects were detained for various offences across the state.

Salma Dogo, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, announced the arrests on Monday during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters. The suspects were charged with offences including criminal conspiracy, incitement, rioting, theft, mischief, and arson.

“We have arrested 150 suspects for violating curfew, and 76 suspects for flying Russian flags, including a foreigner who is a tailor,” Dogo said. “Additionally, we recovered two AK-47 rifles and other substantial properties.”

Dogo also detailed the arrest of six suspects linked to the destruction and looting of the Kano State Printing Press. Other arrests included two suspected kidnappers, five suspected armed robbers, and eight suspected car thieves. The police also recovered a Beretta pistol.

Despite the challenges posed by the protest, Dogo emphasized the command’s ongoing commitment to crime prevention and public safety in Kano State. He highlighted the police’s success in arresting two suspected kidnappers, five armed robbers, eight car thieves, two human traffickers, 23 local gang members, a notorious drug dealer, and rescuing 13 trafficking victims.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s dedication to protecting the lives and property of Kano residents through proactive policing and community engagement.
