Two tragic accidents in Abia and Sokoto States have left several dead and many others missing.

In Abia State, at least 10 passengers, including two babies, were killed in a fatal auto crash near the Umuika Junction on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Eyewitnesses reported that a Toyota Sienna bus, fully loaded with passengers and belonging to a local transport company, lost control and collided with a truck before veering off the road and crashing into a bush.

The bus was reportedly speeding at the time of the accident. Sympathizers and officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were on the scene to help transport the deceased to a morgue.

Meanwhile, in Sokoto State, a boat carrying over 40 passengers capsized in the Dundaye River, located six kilometers west of Sokoto metropolis in Wamakko Local Government Area.

The incident occurred yesterday as passengers, mostly women and children, were crossing the river to reach their farms.

According to an eyewitness, Malam Ayuba Dundaye, the boat sank in the middle of the river. Local divers and swimmers were able to rescue 15 passengers, but 25 others remain missing. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the missing passengers.
