  • Tinubu emphasized the need for Africa to take responsibility for solving its problems

President Bola Tinubu has called on African nations to urgently prioritize peace and unity to achieve collective and sustainable growth.

Speaking at a dinner in Malabo hosted by Equatorial Guinea’s President, Teodoro Mbasogo, Tinubu stressed that the old legacies of nepotism must be replaced with cooperation, which is essential for Africa’s development.

During the event, part of a three-day official visit to Equatorial Guinea, Tinubu emphasized the need for Africa to take responsibility for solving its problems instead of relying on external forces, which often lead to conflict and instability.

“We must focus on peace as the foundation of our development. Without peace, we cannot progress,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted issues such as brain drain, poverty, outdated judicial systems, and tribalism as critical challenges that African leaders must address to foster growth. He urged leaders to take immediate action, stating, “The time is now. We better roll our sleeves, put on our nickers, and move for peace, stability, and progress.”

The Nigerian President and his host also signed agreements in key areas, including petroleum and security, underscoring the importance of regional collaboration for the continent’s future.
