On Thursday, the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission questioned three interim local government chairmen over their alleged involvement in a multibillion-naira drug contract scam.

Musa Garba, owner of Novomed Pharmaceuticals and nephew of Kwankwasiyya Movement leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was released on bail after being held for over 10 hours.

The investigation revealed that each local government had been directed to remit N10m of their N25m August allocation to Novomed. Interim chairmen Abdulaziz Sulaiman (Kiru), Gambo Isa (Garko), and Basiru Abubakar (Bebeji) have admitted to misappropriating funds.

Nineteen other individuals, including senior officials and treasurers, are under custody.
