  • Governor Ahmadu Fintiri begins payment of the N70,000 minimum wage for Adamawa State workers, despite concerns from other state governors
  • The implementation of the new minimum wage has been celebrated by civil servants, marking a significant achievement for Fintiri’s administration

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially commenced the payment of the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage for state workers. This decision follows the federal government’s recent approval of the minimum wage, which President Bola Tinubu signed into law.

Despite concerns from several state governors who claimed they could not afford to implement the new wage due to economic challenges, Governor Fintiri has moved forward with the payment, beginning in August 2024. He has also promised that local government workers will receive an increased salary from September.

This development has been celebrated widely among civil servants in the state. Several state workers, who have already received their August salaries, confirmed the payment and expressed gratitude to the governor. Many praised Governor Fintiri for keeping his promise, describing him as a leader who delivers on his commitments.

Implementing the N70,000 minimum wage is being hailed as a significant achievement for the Fintiri administration, which has earned the nickname “Fresh Air Government” among its supporters.
