District Head, Catholic Catechist, four others abducted in Kaduna

  • SOKAPU condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate, alarming and worrisome.

At least six persons have been kidnapped in Gurzan Kurama community in Kauru Local Government area of Kaduna State.

Among the victims, who were kidnapped on Friday, is the District Head of Garu Kurama.

The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

In the statement issued by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, SOKAPU condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate, alarming and worrisome.

According to the statement, the names of those abducted are Yakubu Jadi (District Head), Iliya Yakubu, Nehemiah Tanko, Thomas Tanko, Yakubu Jadi’s daughter and the Catholic Catechist of the community.

The association called on security agencies to ensure the safe release of the victims.

According to the statement, “SOKAPU is calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to put in their very best of endeavour to ensure the quick and safe release of the district head Mr Yakubu Jadi and those five others.”

The Forum also called on government at all levels to do more in protection of lives and properties.

The Forum equally called on communities to be more vigilant and watch out for unusual faces and movements in their environs, advising that they should report such to appropriate authorities
