The official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board, which has over 82,000 followers, has been hacked. Since Wednesday, the attackers have posted inappropriate content, which has caused concern among the public and page followers.
Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the hack on Friday and assured that efforts are underway to resolve the issue. “Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem,” Daurawa told newsmen.
He added that the board’s ICT department is working diligently to regain control of the page and is in discussions with Meta (Facebook’s parent company) to address the situation.
Sani Zailani, Head of ICT at the Hisbah Board, mentioned that this is not the first time the account has been compromised and confirmed that Meta has promised to resolve the issue within 48 hours.
The Kano State Hisbah Board is known for enforcing moral regulations in line with Islamic law in Kano State, including activities such as confiscating and destroying alcoholic beverages, arresting unmarried couples in hotels, and prohibiting the use of mannequins in boutiques.
