  • The governor expressed pleasure in visiting the living legend, Mike Ejeagha, and emphasized that the state government is fully committed to supporting him, including taking responsibility for his upkeep

The Enugu State Government has inaugurated four newly constructed and reconstructed roads in Abakpa Nike, including the newly renamed Mike Ejeagha Road, previously known as Obinagu Road.

The road, which leads to the residence of the legendary musician, was rebuilt earlier this year in recognition of his immense contributions to the cultural heritage of the state.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Monday, Governor Peter Mbah highlighted the significance of the road renaming as part of efforts to honor those who have shaped Enugu’s identity. The governor expressed pleasure in visiting the living legend, Mike Ejeagha, and emphasized that the state government is fully committed to supporting him, including taking responsibility for his upkeep.

Governor Mbah also used the occasion to announce further infrastructure plans for the state, including the awarding of contracts for the construction of 141 urban roads and 20 rural roads, with Abakpa included in the development projects. He assured residents that the government is unwavering in its commitment to transforming Enugu State, with the upcoming dualization of the Penocks Junction on the Enugu-Onitsha Road, extending to Opi-Nsukka, as part of the extensive work set to commence shortly.
