Troops arrest female kidnappers’ informant, recover weapons in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected female informant for kidnappers in Taraba State.

The suspect, identified as Miss Markus Grace, was arrested on 6th September 2024 in Sondi village, Wukari Local Government Area, according to a statement released on Sunday by Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations.

Grace, the girlfriend of a notorious kidnapper named Chen, is accused of aiding kidnappers in the region.

She is currently in custody undergoing investigation. An AK-47 rifle and a vehicle were recovered during the operation.

In a separate operation on 5th September, troops intercepted a suspicious Toyota Yaris carrying an AK-47 rifle and two National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) ID cards. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The troops are continuing their investigation to trace the suspect.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift action and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to combat crime.
