- Dr. Sani Dambam has been appointed as the new Health Commissioner, replacing Dr. Sambo
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed Dr. Adamu Sambo from his position as Commissioner for Health.
The announcement came during the swearing-in of three new commissioners and a new Chief Security Adviser.
Governor Mohammed also revealed that following the death of the former Commissioner for Local Government, Ahmed Jalam, his administration will no longer assign a commissioner to that ministry. Jalam died in a car accident in June this year, and two other commissioners had resigned to pursue local government chairmanship roles. Additionally, the Chief Security Adviser was dismissed.
Governor Mohammed explained, “We are filling vacancies created by the voluntary retirement of three commissioners to ensure every local government has representation in the cabinet, as required by the constitution. We have also dropped the former Health Commissioner to reposition the administration, reduce governance costs, and implement new local government legislation. We will no longer have a Commissioner for Local Government.”
Dr. Sani Dambam has been appointed as the new Health Commissioner, replacing Dr. Sambo.
Other appointees include Mrs. Zainab Babbatanka as Commissioner for Women Affairs, Engineer Mohammed Abdulkadir for the Ministry of Commerce, and Dr. Ahmed Abdurrahman as Chief Security Adviser.
