Anambra: Many killed as vehicle rams into traders

  • According to sources, the speeding vehicle lost control and plunged into the market, damaging goods and crushing some persons to death.

A yet-to-be-ascertained number of persons have reportedly died after a a vehicle crashed into a market in Anambra State.

The incident happened in Oye Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the south-east State on Wednesday.

According to sources, the speeding vehicle lost control and plunged into the market, destroying goods and crushing some persons to death.

A video of the incident which is currently on social media, showed the crashed Sienna vehicle and some of the traders who were believed to have lost their lives in the mishap.

The market usually has traders selling food items by the roadside.

The trending video also shows smashed tomatoes and other food items.

President-General of Abagana community, Engr. Ben Okongwu confirmed the incident, saying at least three people lost their lives.

He said the crash was as a result of loss of control by the driver.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, RC Margaret Onabe said she was not aware of the incident
