The Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hasfat Abdulrahaman, has released 156 inmates during a two-day visit to correctional centres in Yola.

As part of the Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee’s efforts, 32 inmates were freed, 16 granted bail, and 26 cases reviewed at the Jimeta Correctional Centre.

The reviews focused mainly on civil cases, with some inmates placed on non-custodial sentences of community service ranging from one to three months. The centre, which has a capacity of 300, is currently housing 392 inmates.

Justice Abdulrahaman urged the released inmates to reform their ways, warning that they would face the full force of the law if found guilty of future crimes. Controller of the Jimeta Centre, Mohammed Juta, highlighted the exercise’s importance in addressing overcrowding.
