The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an Ibadan-based businesswoman, Adebola Adewunmi, and an auto parts dealer, Arinze Ora, for allegedly attempting to export consignments of opioids and cocaine to the UK and Congo Brazzaville, respectively.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi revealed that officers at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport intercepted a cargo bound for the UK on September 6.

The consignment, containing 924 bottles of codeine-based syrup and 5,250 Rohypnol tablets, was hidden in foodstuff cartons. The freight agent, Owojori Olanrewaju, was arrested, leading to the arrest of Adewunmi Temitope and later his mother, Adebola Adewunmi, in Ibadan.

In a separate incident on September 11, NDLEA officers discovered 300g of cocaine concealed in checkers powder custard bound for Congo Brazzaville. The sender, Arinze Ora, was arrested at his auto parts shop in Lagos.
