  • Orji noted that motorists and residents have long expressed frustration over the road’s condition, which has led to increased travel times and safety concerns.

The Federal Government has begun on urgent repairs of the Lagos-Abeokuta road, specifically targeting the 7km stretch that has been in disrepair for years.

This move was announced on Wednesday by Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser Media to the Minister of Works, highlighting the government’s dedication to tackling pressing infrastructure concerns.

Orji emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Works is collaborating with the concessionaire to revamp the dilapidated sections, providing much-needed relief to commuters.

“The road has been bad for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief on the dilapidated sections in conjunction with the concessionaire,” he said.

This repair initiative falls under the “Operation Free Our Roads” program, a broader strategy aimed at enhancing the condition of federal roadways nationwide.

Orji reassured that the Federal Ministry of Works, under Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi’s leadership, is committed to easing travel for motorists and commuters on all federal roads.

For years, motorists and residents have expressed frustration over the road’s condition, which has resulted in increased travel times and safety concerns.

However, with these emergency repairs underway, the government seeks to restore seamless travel for thousands who rely on this critical route daily.

“With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smooth transit for the thousands who rely on this vital route daily,” Orji noted.
