  • The court ordered his remand in the correctional centre in the state capital for allegedly raping his daughter

One 42-year-old Christopher Israel has allegedly raped his daughter in Ekiti State.

He was arrested and arraigned before an Ekiti State Magistrate Court, Ado Ekiti District by the police on two counts of rape and assault.

The court ordered his remand in the correctional centre in the state capital for allegedly raping his daughter.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, the defendant committed the offence in Ado Ekiti on September 21.

The prosecutor told the court on Wednesday that “the defendant raped his 22-year-old daughter, who came to visit and inflicted an injury on her while struggling with him.

“The offence committed contravened Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021,” Apata said.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant to a correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court, however, did not take the plea of the defendant.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case till November 6 for a mention
