- On September 29, 2024, Musa’s brother reported him missing, suspecting Aliyu Adamu, the last person in contact with Musa
The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects for the murder of Dahiru Musa, a 32-year-old resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano, over a land transaction dispute.
The suspects—Aliyu Adamu, 22; Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20; and Sadiq Sunusi, 19—allegedly lured Musa, poisoned him, and later burned his body to cover up their crime.
Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed that the suspects are in custody and provided details of the case. On September 29, 2024, Musa’s brother reported him missing, suspecting Aliyu Adamu, the last person in contact with Musa.
“Detectives swiftly moved into action and apprehended Adamu the next day. He confessed to conspiring with his friend Abdulsalam to lure Musa to his house under the guise of discussing a land deal. They poisoned his food, and when he became unconscious, they stabbed him to death,” Haruna said.
Adamu then obtained Musa’s land documents, intending to claim the property after the murder. When Adamu was arrested, Abdulsalam and another accomplice, Sadiq Sunusi, attempted to destroy evidence by burning Musa’s body. The charred remains were found in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s house and have been sent for autopsy.
Commissioner of Police Salman Garba commended the public for their assistance and advised residents to be cautious when conducting transactions, especially in unfamiliar or secluded areas. The suspects are currently at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, and will face court charges upon completion of the investigation.
