The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the national grid is nearing full recovery after a partial disturbance disrupted power supply on Monday evening.

According to TCN, the disturbance occurred around 6:48 p.m., sparking immediate efforts to restore electricity.

Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, stated that the recovery began swiftly with the Azura Power Station providing the initial blackstart.

By 10:24 a.m. on Tuesday, significant progress had been made, although a brief challenge caused a minor delay. Despite this, Mbah confirmed that power had been restored to approximately 90% of TCN’s substations across the country, including critical areas in Abuja and other major distribution centres.

The disturbance did not affect the Ibom Gas generating station, which continued to supply power to parts of the South-South region, including Eket, Uyo, and Itu.
