  • Sankara had denied the allegations, labeling them “false, malicious, and baseless.”
  • He planned to take legal action against those behind the accusations, citing a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially declared Auwal Sankara, Jigawa’s suspended Commissioner for Special Duties, a wanted individual.

Aminu Daurawa, Commander-General of Hisbah, made this announcement on Monday, citing Sankara’s failure to honor an invitation.

Last week, Sankara was taken into custody at an unfinished building in Kano for allegedly engaging in an illicit relationship with a married woman.

Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, reported the commissioner’s actions to Hisbah, leading to the arrest. His wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, is the mother of his two children.

In light of the controversy, Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi suspended Sankara, pending a thorough investigation.

Namadi emphasized that the suspension aimed to ensure a fair inquiry.

During a press conference in Kano, Daurawa revealed that Sankara was granted bail, contingent upon his cooperation with Hisbah.

However, Sankara’s refusal to honor the invitation led to the wanted declaration.

Daurawa explained, “The reason we invited him today was for reconciliation.”

He added, “The complainant agreed to reconcile with Sankara due to his two children.”

Daurawa noted, “Had he appeared today, we would not have taken him to court tomorrow.”

As Hisbah members, Daurawa emphasized, “Islam is our guidance, and it encourages reconciliation.”

However, Sankara’s absence indicates a lack of interest in reconciliation, prompting Hisbah to pursue legal action.
