Police in Delta State have identified the body of a young woman found along DLA Road in Asaba last week.

The victim has been named as 23-year-old Miss Precious Yusuf, according to a statement by the state police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.

A preliminary investigation revealed that on 22 October 2024, Yusuf had informed a friend she was going to meet a man she had met on a dating website in the Coka area.

The following day, she called the same friend to say she was on her way home, but was not heard from again.

“On 24 October 2024, at about 8:40am, a distress call was received reporting the discovery of a young woman’s body on DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club,” Edafe said. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Her body has been taken to the mortuary for autopsy, while the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has vowed to bring those responsible to justice.

In a warning to young women, the Commissioner urged caution when meeting people through social media platforms.
