The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Hauwau Abdulkarim, the serving Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Zamfara State, and Abdullahi Boyi, a lecturer at Sokoto State College of Education, over allegations of certificate forgery.

The ICPC accused both defendants of forging an appointment letter and using it to apply for Abdulkarim’s position as Provost. They also face charges of providing false statements during the investigation, a violation under the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the six charges against them, which include conspiracy and forgery, punishable under the Sokoto State Penal Code.

Their defence counsels, Dr Muhammad Aliyu and Mr M.S. Diri, successfully applied for bail. The court granted bail on the condition that each defendant provides two sureties residing in Sokoto State and a bond of ₦1,000,000 each.
