Police arrest five suspected rustlers, rescues two kidnapped victims in Kaduna

....recovers 303 suspected livestock

The Kaduna police command has announced the arrest of five suspected rustlers and rescue of two kidnapped victims in Gora village.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday issued by the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mansir Hassan.

The PPRO also disclosed the recovery of 203 suspected rustled livestock.

“On Oct. 31, acting on credible intelligence received, the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Superintendent of Police, Sani Zuntu led a team of operatives to a remote area of Gora Village,” NAN quoted Hassan as saying.

“The team located and apprehended five suspects and recovered 283 cattle and 20 sheep suspected to be rustled.”

The suspects are Danjuma Alhaji Nguna, Saleh Shehu, Isiya Abdullahi, Abubakar Isiya, and Aminu Abdullahi a.k.a. “Kano”.

According to Hassan, suspects will face court charges after preliminary investigations are completed.

“On the same date, Oct. 31, at about 17:00 hours, following an intelligence report received by the Ikara Division of suspicious bandits’ activities near Kauyen Magaji Auchan village,” Hassan said.

“A patrol team from Ikara division engaged the bandits in a gunfight, forcing them to flee into the bush.”

Two victims, Ibrahim Abdullahi and Hafsat Yusuf, were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination before being reunited with their families.

Kaduna Police Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi assured the public of the command’s commitment to tackling cattle rustling and banditry.

Abdullahi praised officers for their swift response to intelligence.
