  • Governor Yusuf plans cabinet reshuffle, warning underperforming members of potential removal based on a committee report assessing their performance
  • The governor emphasizes ongoing food distribution efforts and monthly empowerment programs for 52,000 women and youth to address economic challenges

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State announced plans to reshuffle his cabinet, cautioning that members who do not meet performance standards will face removal.

In a live radio interview from the Government House on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf shared that he has reviewed the committee report assessing the cabinet’s performance and will soon announce the government’s next steps.

During the interview, Governor Yusuf emphasized that none of the current commissioners lobbied for their roles. Instead, he selected them based on experience, integrity, and consultations.

He expects each commissioner to show loyalty to his leadership, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and the Kwankwasiyya Movement. He also urges them to remain dedicated and propose initiatives that drive Kano State’s progress.

On poverty alleviation, Governor Yusuf highlighted ongoing food distribution efforts across urban and rural areas to relieve hardship caused by the recent removal of the fuel subsidy.

He pledged to continue this support to help low-income residents access daily necessities.

Governor Yusuf also noted efforts to enhance food security by upgrading the Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), which supplies fertilizers to farmers.

This upgrade aims to increase crop production and support the agricultural community.

The governor further stated that empowering women and youth is a priority for his administration. About 52,000 women and youth across Kano State receive N50,000 each month to start businesses and achieve financial independence.
