Police arrest six over alleged theft of tricycles’ parts in Yobe

  • Abdulkarim said the suspects had removed the parts from commercial tricycles parked in the area before the arrests.

The Yobe Police Command has taken six individuals into custody for allegedly pilfering tricycle components in Damaturu.

According to a statement issued by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Command Spokesman, in Damaturu on Monday.

Operatives apprehended the suspects on November 10 at Nayinawa, following a distress call from area resident Malam Musa Audu.

The suspects had dismantled parts from commercially parked tricycles before their arrest, Abdulkarim revealed.

“On November 10, 2024, at 1400 hrs, the police received a distress call from Mal. Musa Audu of Nayi-Nawa, alleging that six tyres and five windshields of tricycles parked in his vicinity had been stolen by suspected marauders at 0540 hrs the previous day.

‘A’ Divisional Police Station swiftly responded, apprehending six syndicate members.

“The suspects were found in possession of 13 tricycle tyres, six windshields, four crates of empty Coca-Cola bottles, two bicycles and one toolbox,” the spokesman said.

The arrests resulted from a strategic stakeout ordered by Police Commissioner Mr. Garba Ahmed to combat shoplifting, burglary, and related crimes in the city.
