  • The teenager allegedly committed the offence on September 23, 2024, at 8:25 p.m., at Ayodele Musa Street, Unity Estate, Egbeda, Lagos.

A 13-year-old boy (name withheld) has been remanded at a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl.

An Ogba Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos State ordered the remand of the teenager at the facility for boys in Oregon on Tuesday.

The teen was arraigned on a count of defilement preferred against him by the police.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, the teenager allegedly committed the offence on September 23, 2024, at 8:25 p.m., at Ayodele Musa Street, Unity Estate, Egbeda, Lagos.

According to Iberedem, the offence contravened Section 210 (8) of the Child’s Rights Laws of Lagos, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following his not-guilty plea, Magistrate Kubeinje ordered the remand of the teenager in the correctional centre for boys at Oregun.

The magistrate, who refused to grant the defendant’s bail application, ordered that the case file should be forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until December 19, 2024, for mention.
