Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, describing their dedication as the ultimate form of patriotism.

The Governor made this statement while launching the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem with a personal donation of ₦10 million.

The ceremony, held at Arewa House on Friday, was aimed at rallying support for the welfare of veterans and their families. Governor Sani called on organizations and individuals to contribute generously to the Appeal Fund.

Governor Sani reaffirmed Kaduna State’s dedication to addressing insecurity through innovative and comprehensive strategies, stating:

We have forged a strong partnership with federal security forces to secure Kaduna State. Our administration has also created a private sector-driven Kaduna State Security Trust Fund to mobilize resources for the sustained fight against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements.

He also highlighted the state’s focus on social intervention programs to reduce poverty and unemployment, aiming to steer youth away from crime and radicalization.

Governor Sani announced the allocation of two parcels of land for the Nigerian Air Force to establish an air wing and construct post-service housing in Kaduna City.

Additionally, the state provided 10,000 seedlings to the Nigerian Defence Academy Biodiversity Conservation Centre as part of efforts to combat climate change.

This emblem reminds us of the ultimate price paid by our fallen heroes and the welfare needs of surviving veterans. Through our support, we demonstrate that their sacrifice is not in vain. We remember their families and reaffirm our commitment to their welfare, the Governor said.

The ceremony saw Governor Sani being decorated with the Nigerian Legion emblem. He, in turn, decorated senior military, paramilitary, and government officials.

The Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, also announced donations of ₦1.5 million on behalf of the State Executive Council and ₦500,000 on behalf of state workers.

The event underscored the state’s commitment to honoring the bravery and sacrifices of Nigeria’s Armed Forces while supporting their families and welfare.
