  • The commission had previously planned to announce the new tariff plan on October 27, but the date was postponed.
  • The NCC has imposed a limit on the number of tariff plans that operators can offer, restricting them to a maximum of seven.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed plans to introduce a new tariff plan on December 13, 2024.

This new tariff plan is expected to simplify telecom services and eliminate confusion about data and airtime usage, bringing relief to consumers.

The NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, announced this in Abuja on November 28, 2024.

Initially, the commission planned to announce the new tariff plan on October 27 but postponed it.

The NCC has limited telecom operators to a maximum of seven tariff plans to promote transparency.

Regarding rapid data depletion concerns, the NCC clarified that telecom operators are not responsible; instead, the type of phone used significantly impacts data consumption.

The commission is conducting awareness campaigns to educate consumers about this issue and guide them in selecting suitable devices.

By implementing these measures, the NCC aims to create a more transparent and consumer-friendly telecommunications market in Nigeria.
