The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Ahugu Joshua, a 29-year-old man from Keffi LGA, Nasarawa State, for impersonating a Nigerian Navy officer and defrauding POS vendors and shop owners with fake bank receipts.

Joshua, who used a counterfeit Nigerian Navy ID card to gain trust, generated fake transaction receipts via his Kuda bank app to deceive victims.

He would initially complete small, legitimate transactions before editing receipts to delay alerts and make it seem payments had been made.

His arrest on December 18, 2024, followed a covert operation by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
