A 40-year-old man, Joshua Nwafor, has allegedly beaten his wife, Charity, to death following a dispute over a tuber of yam in Nsokkara, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The couple, married for 17 years with children, reportedly began arguing when Joshua brought out a yam to cook, but Charity insisted on roasting it instead. The disagreement escalated, leading Joshua to drag Charity into their room, where he allegedly beat her to death.
An eyewitness called for peaceful conflict resolution and urged individuals in life-threatening marriages to prioritise their safety over societal opinions.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, condemned the incident and assured the public of a thorough investigation. “The suspect will be charged to court,” he said.
