Bandits attack Nasarawa community, kill seven

  • The incident happened at Tattara community in Panda District of Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

At least seven people have lost their lives in a fresh attack by suspected bandits on a community in Nasarawa State.

The incident happened at Tattara community in Panda District of Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

Many others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the onslaught that happened on January 11, 2025.

The attack is the latests in a spate of violent attacks and wanton killings across northern states like Kaduna and Katsina. It has made people raise eyebrows on the issue of growing insecurity in the region.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria condemned the attack, describing it as senseless.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Dr. Onuk Oji Galadima, the council condoled with the families of victims.

Dr. Galadima called for a collective response in condemnation of such brutal violence, hence charging citizens to rise up against such bestial criminal acts. He further emphasized that attacks on unarmed civilians are unacceptable and must be denounced by all.

The NYCN Chairman also called on the government to take immediate action to secure communities and ensure the safety of citizens.

He called for increased efforts by the security forces to avert similar attacks in the future and bring the culprits to book.

Apart from government intervention, Dr. Galadima emphasized that vigilance on the part of the public was also very important.

He urged the people to show concern for their neighborhoods by reporting any suspected activities that could help contain the increasing attacks.

Finally, he pleaded for support for the affected families and communities.
