One Mathias Amunde has allegedly killed his mother in the Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River state.
The man, who was said to have murdered his mother with a stick, has since been arrested by the police in the State.
The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation by the police.
In a viral video on social media on Monday, the suspect alongside an accomplice bludgeoned his mother with stick, dragged her body outside and threw it inside a well.
The suspect while being interrogated in a police station noted that his accomplice fled after they jointly threw his mother’s remains inside a well.
He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed him, Walcot dragged him out of the house and we jointly dragged him to the well.
“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”
The state Police Public Relations Office, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident on to newsmen.
He disclosed that the case would be referred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.
“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo said
