Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has expressed his commitment to revitalizing the state’s mining sector to boost its economic growth.

This was conveyed during an interactive meeting between members of the National Miners Association and officials of the state government, where the governor was represented by the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Alhaji Yusuf Muhammad Maccido.

Governor Aliyu disclosed that a contract had already been awarded for the rehabilitation of the miners’ market in the state.

He emphasized that the state’s solid minerals would be mined strategically to contribute significantly to the government’s economic objectives.

Maccido highlighted the restoration of the miners’ market as a crucial step in revitalizing the sector and ensuring better coordination of mining activities.

“The reactivation of the market will help the government track miners’ activities, promote peace, and ensure efficient sector management,” he noted.

In their remarks, officials from the National Miners Association congratulated the commissioner on his appointment and pledged their continued support to ensure the success of his tenure in developing the state’s mining sector.
