Nine members of the same family on Thursday lost their lives in a fatal auto crash in Benue State.

The deceased were crushed to death by a truck that plunged into their home in Okete Village, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Sewuese Anene confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Makurdi.

She disclosed that the unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, NAN reports.

The PPRO said that the command has launched a full investigation into the incident and further information would be made available to newsmen. (NAN).

Meanwhile, a man has committed suicide after defrauding land buyers in Ayihe village, Makurdi Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

The deceased, a middle-aged man identified Tartor Ayihe, was said to have taken his own life after allegedly selling a plot of land to three different buyers in the village.

The deceased committed suicide after he was challenged about the fraudulent activities.

He reportedly consumed a poisonous substance, believed to be a pesticide known as Sniper.
