  • The police spokesperson advised motorists to always drive with caution.

A devastating lone accident occurred on Sunday night at Fatgbems bus stop on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, claiming five lives.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun Police Command spokesperson, released a statement on Monday confirming the tragic incident.

Odutola attributed the accident to the Mercedes Benz driver’s careless driving, which happened around 11:30 pm.

“The accident occurred when the driver of the Mercedes Benz, going towards Mowe direction, suddenly lost control, hit the culvert, somersaulted and turned to the opposite direction.

“Three men and two women inside the vehicle were confirmed dead, while one person sustained injuries,” she said.

The injured victim received medical attention at AZ Carezone Hospital, while the deceased were taken to Real Divine Hospital’s morgue in Ibafo.

Family members of the victims were notified, according to Odutola.

The police spokesperson cautioned drivers to exercise caution while driving.
