- He highlighted Tinubu’s inclusive governance and the appointment of a Southern Kaduna native as Chief of Defence Staff
Mike Auta, the Labour Party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Kaduna-South, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to deliver one million votes for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
Auta announced his defection during a gathering in his hometown, Fai, Jaba Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Sunday.
Explaining his decision, Auta highlighted Tinubu’s inclusive governance and the appointment of a Southern Kaduna native as Chief of Defence Staff. He also praised Governor Sani’s efforts to restore peace in the region, enabling residents to return to their farmlands.
“There is a need to join forces with the Kaduna State Governor and our President to change the fortunes of our region. Aligning with the ruling party is our alternative, noting that any mistake will be detrimental,” he said.
While remaining non-committal about his political ambitions for 2027, Auta expressed confidence in his popularity in Southern Kaduna and vowed to support APC’s agenda in the region.
“I am joining the party to bring my wealth of experience to bear,” he added.
