  • Pregnant women must enrol in the Enugu eHealth Platform to access the services

The Enugu State Government has introduced ultrasound services at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to improve maternal and child healthcare.

The Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency announced via Facebook that the services are available every Tuesday from 9 a.m. at PHCs in Abakpa and Asata.

To mark the launch, ultrasound services for pregnant women will be free for the first month and remain affordable thereafter. Pregnant women must enrol in the Enugu eHealth Platform to access the services.

This initiative is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s efforts to revamp primary healthcare. His administration has flagged off the construction of Type-2 PHCs across the state’s 260 wards. In January, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated 60 newly built PHCs, with 200 more under construction.

An official from the agency confirmed that equipping all PHCs with basic laboratory facilities and ensuring 24-hour services are part of the broader plan to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
