The Abia State Government has commenced the recruitment of teachers for public primary, secondary, and technical colleges in the state.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the government invited applications from holders of the National Certificate in Education (NCE) and university graduates across major subject areas.

The ministry confirmed that the application process is entirely online and free, with candidates required to submit their applications via the ministry’s website within two weeks.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified via SMS or email and invited for a test. Those who pass will proceed to an oral interview and micro-teaching practicum.

– Applicants must be under 45 years old as of 29 January 2025.
– Both Abia residents and non-residents are eligible.
– Candidates with physical or medical disabilities are encouraged to apply.
– NCE holders will be deployed to primary schools only.

The ministry added that while registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is not mandatory, it would be an advantage. Successful candidates will be posted to schools across the state, including rural and riverine areas.
