The Kaduna State Government has released N548 million to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Endwell Fund, bringing an end to a long-standing dispute between the state and the union.

Acting Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mubarak Mohammed, announced the resolution on Thursday, stating that Governor Uba Sani played a key role in facilitating the agreement.

The NUT Endwell Fund, which comprises statutory deductions from teachers’ salaries, is designed to support them both during service and in retirement. The dispute had stalled its proper administration for years.

Mohammed explained that after negotiations, both parties agreed to discontinue all legal actions, allowing the NUT to manage the fund independently. He added that structural reforms would be introduced to enhance efficiency and accountability.

He praised Governor Sani’s commitment to improving education and teachers’ welfare since taking office in May 2023, noting that his leadership had fostered a more positive relationship between the government and educators.

The NUT welcomed the resolution, commending the governor for his intervention and pledging to ensure the fund benefits teachers as intended.
