The Anambra State Police Command has arrested Obinna Anene, the prime suspect in the murder of 74-year-old Alice Anene, who was burnt to death in her wheelchair in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the 33-year-old suspect’s arrest on Tuesday, stating that he has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, in Awka for further interrogation.
Earlier, the police had arrested four suspects—Chinyere Ekwenugo (21), Uzochukwu Okeke (47), Fidel Anayo (60), and Ikenna Anene (54)—all from Abagana.
Officers recovered the victim’s charred remains, a wheelchair, and a casket from the crime scene.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend any other suspects involved.
