- He warned that security operatives would soon begin apprehending those impersonating council officials
The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has vowed to arrest touts who harass motorists under the guise of collecting revenue.
AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, made the announcement on Wednesday during a training session for over 200 staff of the council’s Mobile Advert Unit.
He warned that security operatives would soon begin apprehending those impersonating council officials.
“If you see any touts seizing plate numbers, call the nearest police station or report to AMAC’s information office,” he said.
The council is also planning to set up a special task force to address the issue, starting February 17.
Officials say the training will equip staff with proper revenue collection techniques and help restore AMAC’s reputation.
