Ogun Police Rescue Seven from Suspected Human Traffickers

  • Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that the individuals were allegedly being transported to The Gambia

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued seven individuals from a suspected human trafficking operation in the Oja-Odan area of Yewa North Local Government Area.

The victims were intercepted on Monday, February 12, 2025, along the Oja-Odan/Ohunbe Road in a white Volkswagen bus registered as belonging to the Anambra State Government. The driver, Ezeani John Paul, and several passengers were arrested.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that the individuals were allegedly being transported to The Gambia but could not provide a clear explanation for their journey.

The rescued victims include Emmanuel Anyigor (25), John Peter Ogar (18), Chidioke Basil (20), Emecheta Chimaodi (18), Osondu Marvellous (19), Ifeanyi Emmanuel Uchechukwu (18), and Anizoba Chiagozie Emmanuel (18).

Authorities have transferred the suspects and vehicle to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo urged residents to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of personal security to prevent falling victim to criminal activities.
