Police kill four suspected kidnappers, recover N3m ransom in Kebbi

Abubakar said that the police also successfully rescued the kidnapped victim of the kidnappers as ransom.

  • The police commissioner reiterated the command’s determination in combating crimes in the state.

The Kebbi police command reported that its operatives neutralized four suspected kidnappers and freed a hostage in Suru LGA.

Nafi’u Abubakar, command spokesperson, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the police also retrieved N3 million ransom.

“On Feb. 14, at about 1:45pm; armed men suspected to be kidnappers invaded Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi and kidnapped one Umaru Bawa, 60,” the statement reads.

“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Suru, swiftly mobilized a team to the scene, tracked the suspects, and engaged them in a firefight.”

“Consequently, four kidnappers were neutralized, one arrested with fatal injuries, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.”

Bello Sani, Kebbi police commissioner, praised officers’ bravery and professionalism, vowing to combat crime in the state.

The police commissioner urged citizens to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station promptly.
