According to intelligence sources, the operation was launched following a distress call on February 14, regarding the kidnapping of the victims.

“Troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and rescued one victim who had sustained gunshot wounds,” the sources stated.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops conducted an offensive operation on February 15 at approximately 1600 hours in the Angwan Rimi Forest, where they engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gunfight.

“During the encounter, two of the criminals were neutralized,” the sources revealed.

According to the security analyst, the search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 10 mobile phones, foodstuffs, and a cash sum of ₦1,136,000.

The three remaining kidnapped victims, identified as Mr. Mathew Ayemowa, Mr. Tunde Salam, and Mr. Mustapha Mohammed, were successfully rescued.

However authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
