In Kogi State, a fatal auto crash has claimed the lives of six students of Federal University Lokoja, FUL.
The tragic incident happened when an articulated vehicle rammed into a university’s shuttle bus conveying the deceased.
According to an reports, the accident, which occurred at about about 2.30 pm on Monday, also claimed the life of the bus driver.
An eyewitness disclosed the articulated vehicle was carrying woods and Jerry cans of palm oil heading towards the Abuja axis.
“Unfortunately, the driver lost control and rammed into the FUL shuttle bus already filled up with students and was about to convey them to school.
“The shuttle bus was crushed by the articulated vehicle,” the source said.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, have arrived at the scene to rescued some victims that were trapped under the articulated vehicle.
The Kogi State Sector Commandant of the FRSC, Samuel Oyedeji who led his team to the scene of the accident could not confirm the numbers of casualties in the accident.
While noting that bodies have been deposited in the morgue for identification, the sector commander, however, disclosed that those that were injured have been moved to Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, and Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment.
