  • Dr. Ayo Ajasa, chairman of the estate’s CDA, blamed the tragedy on the Ogun State government’s failure to install speed breakers

Residents of Ajebo Road Housing Estate, Kemta, Abeokuta, are mourning the death of Prof. Oladipo Ademuyiwa, a Biochemical Toxicology lecturer at FUNAAB, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday along the newly rehabilitated Kemta-Somorin road.

The professor, in his early 60s, had just alighted from a cab when a speeding driver struck him and fled.

Dr. Ayo Ajasa, chairman of the estate’s CDA, blamed the tragedy on the Ogun State government’s failure to install speed breakers despite repeated appeals.

“This highlights the urgent need for government intervention,” Ajasa said, noting that speed bumps were installed on the Ilugun end but ignored in their area.

He urged the state to implement safety measures and enforce traffic laws, revealing that another accident occurred within 24 hours of the professor’s death.

“We hold the government accountable and demand immediate action before more lives are lost,” Ajasa added.
