A first year student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, Ondo State, has been brutally murdered by some unknown assailants.
The deceased identified as Oluwaseun, a student of Mass Communication in the institution, was allegedly hacked to death outside the institution’s premises.
He was killed on Opomulero Street in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Council Area of the State, sources familiar with the matter disclosed.
One of the sources, who is a student of the institution, revealed that the deceased had newly secured admission into the institution and had only been in the school for three weeks before he was killed.
According to the source, who craved anonymity, “He (Oluwaseun) had spent just a few weeks on campus. He was also a course representative and a musician.
“He was a fresher who had been on campus for only three to four weeks. In fact, he was our course representative. It is painful that we lost him so soon. Sadly, he was attacked with a machete.”
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that an investigation had begun in order to unearth those behind the killing.
