- The forum said Clark kept leaderships under jealous scrutiny and even though his language was often vivid, his earnestness conveyed no malice.
A group known as the Urhobo Leadership Forum in Abuja (ULFA) has paid tribute to the late Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).
Edwin Clark, who served as a commissioner under Yakubu Gowon’s government, passed away on Monday at 97.
According to Olorogun Igho, ULFA president, Clark tirelessly advocated for fairness and equity, never losing faith in a united Nigeria.
He noted that “what the deceased pursued was ethical governance, and he was not afraid of making enemies in the process.”
The statement described Clark as a powerful voice for the Niger Delta people, reminding citizens and the government of their departure from the federalist vision.
It highlighted Clark’s scrutiny of leadership, his vivid language, and earnestness, which conveyed no malice.
The statement praised Clark’s service to the nation as a lawyer, advocate, regionalist champion, and leader.
It lamented that Clark’s challenging voice will be deeply missed in a society where honest questioning is rare.
The group hoped Clark’s selfless life would inspire future generations.
The Urhobo Leadership Forum also commiserated with Edwin Clark’s family and the Niger Delta region, saluting his courageous life and immense contributions to the nation.
