Gunmen in the early hours of Saturday have kidnapped two clergymen, Reverend Father Mathew David Dusami, a priest with Yola Catholic Diocese, and Reverend Father Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the kidnappers, who were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, arrived at the victims’ house around 4am before whisking them away to an unknown destination.

Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, who confirmed the incident, condemned the act vehemently.

Morris said the incident occurred at the residence of one of the priests situated at Gwaida Malam in Numan local government area of the state.

Morris added that the Command’s operational and manpower assets have been deployed to give the kidnappers a hot chase to rescue the victims unhurt, apprehend the perpetrators and their collaborators.

He said the efforts of the Command would definitely bring the perpetrators and other persons involved in the abduction to face the full wrath of the law.

Moris while appealing for calm, emphasised the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and resisting all forms of violent crimes in the state.

“This unprovoked kidnapping of religious leaders is totally unacceptable as they are not only stakeholders, but also people who are actively working to promote peace in the society,” the CP said.

The Command also called for the support and cooperation of the public to give useful and timely information that will aid its quest to rescue the victims and bring the criminals to book.
