An improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway detonated, injuring three police officers conducting a routine patrol in the area.
According to intelligence sources, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication covering the Lake Chad region, reported that the explosion happened around 3 pm on Tuesday near Garin Kuturu village, Borno state.
The sources revealed that the IED went off when Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers stepped on it, destroying their patrol vehicle and leaving a crater three feet deep and five feet wide.
Makama stated that a bomb disposal unit (EOD-CBRN) was sent to the location to secure the site and search for additional explosive devices.
The publication further reported that the injured officers were transported to the Borno State Specialist Hospital, where they received medical treatment before being discharged.
Gunmen Kill Six Children in Kogi
Armed attackers have allegedly killed six children in the Ogbe forest region of Kogi state in a violent attack.
Zagazola Makama reported that the incident took place on Sunday, causing panic in the affected community.
According to the publication, the unidentified victims were attending to their cattle when the assailants stormed their camp, opened fire, and killed them instantly.
“The relatives of the victims reported the incident to the police on March 11, 2025,” the source said.
“Police operatives visited the scene and took photographs of the decomposed corpses, while a preliminary investigation has commenced.”
