ISWAP terrorists overrun Borno military base, kill soldiers, destroy equipment

  • The military base was overwhelmed and the soldiers were subdued due to the unexpected nature of the attack and the sheer number of the terrorists.

A military base in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State has been overrun by rampaging terrorists.

The base was attacked on Sunday evening by Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists.

At least four soldiers were reportedly killed with several others wounded during the attack.

They military base was overwhelmed and the soldiers were subdued due to the unexpected nature of the attack and the sheer number of the terrorists.

The terrorists, riding on motorcycles, targeted the village of Warja, situated between Sabon Gari and Damboa.

According to a security source, the attackers destroyed numerous armoured vehicles, including tanks and personnel carriers, while looting ammunition from the base.

Security expert Zagazola makama reports that in the aftermath of the attack, several operational vehicles were burnt, and the attackers carted away with large quantities of weapons.

A source from the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) confirmed that the assailants arrived in large numbers, overpowering the personnel at the base
